How To Manufacture Charcoal Briquettes?

2025-08-01

With the gradual strengthening of people's awareness of environmental protection, renewable resources appear in front of people. The resource utilisation of waste agricultural and forestry materials can fetch good profits. Therefore the charcoal processing industry has become one of the hottest processing industries. What are the components of charcoal briquettes? How are charcoal briquettes produced? Charcoal making machine is the equipment to make charcoal briquettes. Charcoal briquette is usually a fuel made from charcoal powder. It is compared with traditional fuels. Charcoal briquettes not only produce heat continuously, but also burn without smoke and odour.

Raw Materials For Making Charcoal Briquettes

Logs:

Logs are important raw materials for making charcoal briquettes. It includes hardwoods, fruitwoods, miscellaneous woods and so on. Charcoal briquettes made from logs have the advantage of easy ignition and long burning time. It also gives off a natural wood-fired odour when burning.

Fruit and Nut Shells:

Commonly available are: walnut shells, coconut shells, fruit shells, olive shells and so on. Charcoal briquettes produced using these raw materials. When burned, they emit a unique raw material odour.

Waste Agricultural and Forestry Materials:

Wooden wastes, such as sawdust, wood shavings, shavings, rice husks, bamboo chips and so on. Most of these raw materials are used to produce mechanism charcoal and charcoal briquettes. The price of this raw material is low. It can reduce the cost of producing charcoal quickly.

Process Of Making Charcoal Briquettes

How to produce charcoal briquettes is a common concern for customers. The production process of charcoal briquettes can be divided into five steps:

Step 1: Crushing

Firstly, the raw wood material is sent to the wood crusher. Crushing to powder or granule. If it is a smaller and faster material, such as sawdust, wood chips, rice husk and so on. The subsequent carbonisation can be carried out directly.

Step 2: Drying

If the raw material is the case of logs, made of wood chips. The moisture content is high, so if there is a drum dryer for drying. This will facilitate the carbonisation process.

Step 3: Carbonisation

After drying the raw wood material. After the drying of wood raw materials, through the conveyor sent to the continuous carbonisation furnace. The whole process of carbonisation temperature should be maintained at 400-600 ℃. After carbonisation, the material is cooled down to 50-60℃ by cooling machine. The final product is discharged to the finished pile.

Step 4: Mixing

Charcoal powder requires the use of binder mixer. A certain amount of charcoal powder, water and binder are fully mixed and combined. At the same time the mixer also has two high-speed wheels to grind the material again.

Step 5: Briquetting

Briquetting is an important part of charcoal moulding. There are many kinds of moulding equipment: pulverised coal briquetting machine, bituminous coal briquetting machine, honeycomb coal briquetting machine, briquette machine and so on. Raw materials are sent to the briquetting machine under high pressure. Due to the moisture, binder, temperature and the pressure of the briquetting machine. The final charcoal briquettes are finally discharged through the bottom of the equipment.

Step 6: Finished Product Drying

The charcoal after briquetting is quicker and wetter. Place the charcoal briquettes in the drying box for about 3-4 hours. The final product is charcoal briquettes.

Equipment For Making Charcoal Briquettes

Carbonization Furnace

Whether you are producing natural charcoal or charcoal briquettes. The carbonization furnace is required for the production of both natural charcoal and charcoal briquettes. Carbonization furnace can be divided into: continuous carbonization furnace, hanging carbonising furnace, horizontal carbonization furnace. Continuous carbonisation furnace is mainly used for carbonisation of small pieces of materials, such as sawdust, wood chips, rice husk and so on. Continuous feeding and discharging can be realised. Hanging carbonisation furnace and horizontal carbonisation furnace are mainly used to carbonise large lumpy materials. For example: logs, bamboo, sawdust lumps, tree branches, tree trunks, and so on.

Charcoal Crusher

Charcoal crusher is an auxiliary equipment in charcoal production line. The main function is to crush the charcoal into charcoal powder. It is convenient for subsequent mixing and blending.

Binder Mixer

Charcoal powder mixer is used as auxiliary equipment in the production of charcoal briquette making. The main function is to mix the charcoal powder, water and binder well.

Coal Powder Briquette Machine

Common charcoal briquettes in the market have different shapes, such as pillow-shaped briquettes, cylindrical briquettes, hexagonal, quadrangular, square and so on. The shape of charcoal briquettes can be according to customers' needs. Customised briquette mould.

Conclusion

Processing charcoal briquettes is not difficult. But we need to pay attention to many production details, such as composition ratio, moisture and so on. These factors will directly affect the quality of the final finished charcoal briquettes.
