In many rural areas of the country. Many families have not yet installed heating equipment. This demand has given rise to a huge market opportunity - charcoal making and processing. Charcoal processing mainly lies in the low cost of raw materials. For example: corn, straw, soybeans, wheat, and other crop stalks. As well as wood, logs, sawdust, rice husk, coconut shells, bamboo, etc. can be used as raw materials for charcoal processing.
Raw material cost:
Hardwood (oak, logs) is the most common raw material. The market price is: 100-150 USD per tonne. Fruitwood or bamboo costs slightly less. About: 60-110 USD per tonne. Of course, if the raw material is: rice husk, coconut shell, straw and other wastes as there are raw materials. The price will be even lower.
Production Cost:
Charcoal Making Machine Energy Consumption: electricity cost about: 20-30 USD/tonne.
Labour cost: Each tonne needs operating cost is: 2-3 hours. Hourly wage per worker: 5-10 USD/hour. Total: 15-30 USD/tonne.
Depreciation of equipment: According to the annual production capacity: 1000 tonnes. Shared cost is about: 7 USD/tonne.
Transportation and Packaging:
Short haulage (≤50km) costs about US$10-15/tonne, long haulage up to US$20-30/tonne.
Packaging is mostly done in woven bags or cardboard boxes at a cost of about: 3-5 USD/tonne.
Mechanism charcoal:
Raw material is sawdust or straw. Lower cost. About 50-80 USD/tonne. Pressing and moulding equipment is also needed.
Total cost is about: 80-100 USD/tonne. The charcoal produced has a high density and burns for a longer period of time.
Fruit wood charcoal:
The raw materials are date wood, fruit wood, etc. Lower cost. About 100-120 USD/tonne. The processing cost is similar to hardwood charcoal.
Fruit wood charcoal has better finished product and unique flavour, suitable for barbecue industry. High calorific value and long burning time. And the retail price can be up to US$400-700/tonne.
Bamboo charcoal:
The cost of raw material is about: 60-70 USD/tonne. Its carbonisation temperature is high. Energy consumption needs to be increased by 20%. The total cost is about US$130-150 per tonne.
To sum up: the cost of charcoal processing is significantly affected by the type of raw material, processing technology, regional differences and so on. Choose the right type according to different industry uses.
